Vangelis

  1. seems that the best melody of this album was adopted by 2 female artists:

“Athenes ma ville” sung by Melina Mercouri in 1974:

and Milva sung “Christine” in 1980.
    No video on youtube
    so here’s the song:

  2. Good job !!!
Melina Mercouri being greek like him, maybe he recycled it for her... (Melina Mercouri doesn't write her songs, so either the composer is Vangelis himself, or the composer of the song got "inspired" by Vangelis' theme !).
Milva is italian, so she's a neighbor ! Influence was strong at the time between the 2 countries, though it was more often the other way...

  3. thanks !
    Melina was a patriot person...

    "Athina ma ville"

    and I guess she was
always interested in human rights or activist causes...
Since she lived in France at that time
it wouldn't be difficult to notice about an album dedicated to students riots like this one.
She contacted Vangelis who helped her in 4 songs for her album.
Note that Melina's "Si Melina...M'etait Contée"
and Vangelis "Fais que ton reve soit plus long que la nuit" were officially released on CD
though both taken from vinyl and not from original masters !
